I.S.S. ENTERPRISE - NCC-1701-D
AMT/ERTL 3 Enterprises Set 1:2500

Build on March 2006

When I obtained (in eBay) an old 1/2500 scale 3-Enterprises kit for the refitting of the enterprise project, I found that the Enterprise D was nearly built. I was a bit piss in the beginning, but when I calm down I saw a new possibility in this kit. The kit comes without clear parts and it is too small for lighting up. So the problem was not so big. I was about to use the kit to build the Mirror Universe Enterprise D. This one of course was never seen in TV and the decals I did some time ago came only from my imagination.

So this is going to be a painting and decaling built.

The model was nearly done, I only had to glue the nacelles on the pylons and the saucer section on the neck. When it was done, I applied a coat of white primer. Why white?, is the one available in the shop at this point of time.  When dry I used Createx Medium Grey as a base coat and Tamiya paints for detailing.

Before primer Primer done, snowy white Base coat done and detailing on their way Friket film was used to mask and paint the elliptical phaser strips

I continued with the weathering. With some post-it for masking I use Createx Dark Grey to add some airbrush weathering in every single panel line in the ship. I did not want aztek patterns in the Mirror D, so I didn't do them.

When all the paint work was done, I applied a layer of Future. It means that the decaling work is about to start. I will use 2 sets of decals (windowing and mirror-universe-stuff). the mirror universe conversion and a set of decals for the windows and escape pods. They could be applied as a single piece, but I prefer to cut them in sections.

Weathering on their way The 2 sets of decals for this project The top of the saucer section is done and the engineering section is on its way The bottom of the ship is nearly done

After all the decals are on place I waited one day and then another layer of Future was applied and let it dry for 24 hours more. When dry, the final flat coat was applied and the model is now done.

The final result
